In this presentation, TDMHSAS (TN Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services) Commissioner Marie Williams will discuss the emerging engagement of communities of faith in increasing recovery opportunities. Through presentation of personal history working through faith-based initiatives with the state of Tennessee and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Commissioner Williams will share lessons learned and emerging best practices. The presentation will also feature the personal experiences of TDMHSAS Director of Faith-Based Initiatives, Monty Burks, Ph.D., as well as one of the department’s regional Faith Based Coordinators, Lifeline Peer Project team members, and Certified Recovery Congregation pastors. In concluding the presentation, Commissioner Williams will lead an engaging and fun panel discussion.
