B.S. in Nutritional Science from URI, a MBA from CSU, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision from St. Mary’s University. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and holds dual Texas State Licensures, one in Dietetics and the other in Licensed Professional Counseling. Dr. Byrne is a Texas State Recognized Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors Interns and, as President and Founder of Byrne Consultants, Inc., has hosted several professional sites for supervision and training. Dr. Byrne holds certifications in Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy, Holotropic Breath work/Release Therapy and Acudetox (auricular acupuncture for those in recovery to detox and reduce stress) and is a Reiki Master. counseling for families who lost a family member to drug overdose. While in DFW, she also worked with military personnel in recovery from substance use disorder and/or PTSD in military contracted behavioral health facilities while training her Weimaraner, Zoe, for AKC Pet Therapy Certification. She returned to Austin in 2013 to provide consultation for the opening of a Behavioral Health facility in South Austin. She continued to grow her company’s consultation contracts with behavior health facilities and government provider agencies. Dr. Byrne trains, employs, mentors and supervises professionals in Medical Nutrition Therapy and Counseling/Behavior Support to serve the volume of consultation contracts with agencies and private practice endeavors. Before moving to Texas, from 1993 to 1998, along with owning and operating her consulting firm with vendor contracts in the 5 Boroughs of New York City, she was faculty at Connecticut State University teaching pre-med Nutritional Science. After moving to Texas, from 1999 to 2012, Dr. Byrne is retired Faculty at University of Texas at San Antonio, teaching pre-med Nutritional Sciences for the Biology Department. For a short time, she moved to the DFW area, where she specialized in grief Dr. Byrne brings her personal recovery journey from Disordered Eating and Nicotine to addiction treatment. Well known for her success in treating all types of eating disorders, Dr. Byrne holds a belief that the person is the person, not the “dis-ease or addicion,” and that in order to facilitate the healing process, the therapist must access the source of the “dis-ease/addiction” shoulder-to-shoulder with the client and individualize therapies specific to the client’s needs. She has passion for the healing arts. She has an extensive background in the integration of the two fields, Nutritional Science and Counseling. Dr. Byrne is also known as a local 5K Runner, a Chakra Release Therapist/Reiki Master, a Behavior Support Specialist for those with intellectual disabilities and a counselor for their caregiver(s).
