Speaker Bio
Cassidy Cousens is the founder and administrator of 1 Method Center. He specializes in the integrated model of care for treating addiction, dual diagnosis, and mental health issues. Cassidy has more than 20 years of experience working in the field of SUD and behavioral health.
Cassidy began his career on the nonprofit, behavior modification side of treatment in 2000 before going to work for a private, clinically-based luxury rehab with a full continuum of care. There, along with holding multiple roles, he helped to develop two programs: a nonprofit for women and children affected by addiction and a high-end professionals track. He left to start his own treatment center in 2005.
Over the past two decades, Cassidy has held the position of policy analyst, floor supervisor, intervention specialist, counselor, program director, administrator, and facility owner. In addition, he liaises with the California State Legislature in both the lower and upper houses to influence and review policy on proposed laws and regulations in order to strike a balance between the needs of constituents, operators, and people with disabilities (alcoholism, SUD, and/or mental illness). He also works on a national level to reduce stigma towards these populations and address strategies to curb prevalence – most notably, with regard to the efficacy of the integrated model and the individual, family, community, and social benefits of reducing the barriers to treatment for addiction and mental health disorders.
Cassidy has devoted his entire career to helping individuals and their families to recover and heal from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. He is widely considered one of the most knowledgeable people in the field and viewed as one of the most “hands on” owners in the industry. He is passionate about recovery, always available, and works daily on the front lines to help people realize their true potential as human beings.
