Description

The isolation and disconnection created by substance use disorders requires a categorical change in connection to overcome. As individuals establish themselves into sustained sobriety, many lack the social resources or practical resources to reconnect in meaningful ways. The utilization of technology has added a new dimension to facilitating connection amongst these individuals. By creating environments, through technology, newly sober individuals are establishing a foothold in healthy recovery communities.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will understand three reasons why newly sober individuals require connection with themselves, others, and their communities
  2. Participants will be exposed to new technological advances that facilitate these connections, including virtually.
  3. Participants will be able to identify strategies within these technological and real world settings to deepen interpersonal and community connections.
