In this panel discussion, ex-professional athletes will discuss challenges they faced in asking for help when each faced their own mental health crisis. Guest Speakers will share their experiences in getting help with Depression, Sex and Love Addiction, Substance Use Disorder, and Social Stigma.
Objectives: Participants will be able to:
- Identify methods for helping patients/clients find their own voice when entering into the continuum of care in behavioral healthcare
- Enhance participants knowledge of social barriers facing patients as they struggle to enter the treatment experience
- Gain understanding and awareness, through interactive question and answer session, of the mental processes that take place when an individual makes the decision to seek help for his, or her, mental health condition
- Increase skills required to work with patients who present with complex social issues and varying economic backgrounds
