Description

In this psychodrama, two certified interventionists will engage the audience in various scenarios, case studies, and role plays based on previously executed interventions.  Members of the audience will role play as family members, friends, or even the identified patient as different techniques are discussed and demonstrated.

Objectives:  Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify intervention techniques used to help the patient/client gain awareness of their current life situation and empower decision making consistent with the recommendations of the health care professionals engaged by the patient’s family and friends
  2. Demonstrate, through role play, variables seen in complex cases as well as solutions for these more difficult cases
  3. Gain understanding of the typical challenges seen in each phase of the intervention process:  pre-intervention process, intervention process, and post-intervention process
  4. Increase skills required to work with patients who present with substance use disorder and refuse to accept treatment recommendations
