Description
Integrating sandtray therapy with client’s who struggle with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders. Incorporating non-verbal therapeutic options into treatment can help client’s access and process through deeper levels of trauma and/or unmet attachment needs that may be blocked when attempting to utilize more traditional methods. Utilizing this modality allows the clients to begin to process their trauma in a bottom up approach. The sandtray helps regulate the nervous system by calming the fight flight response this allows the client to feel safe and tell their story through symbols. The sandtray incorporates all areas of the brain by combining non-verbal, verbal and somatic experiencing.
