Description
Increasingly, Peer Recovery Support Services are playing an important role in behavioral health care. Peer Specialists use their lived experience to guide individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders in early recovery; their work within organizations and systems has been shown to improve clinical outcomes. This session will introduce peer support models, explore why treatment centers should consider adding them, and provide practical examples on how peer supports can be used to support clients before, during, and after treatment, with a focus on serving special populations.
