Description
Today’s healthcare consumer has access to more information than ever.  Many are also misinformed, confused and overwhelmed during critical decision-making periods.  This presentation seeks to help the healthcare provider in distinguishing legitimate, valid and reliable information from all that is reported on the internet and other sources.  The elements of healthcare quality will be reviewed and applied to the addiction treatment industry. Many programs in the addiction treatment industry report “success rates”.  What do these numbers represent?  How can we help consumers make sense of these claims and determine the best treatment options for themselves and their loved ones?  The presentation will teach the participant how to critically evaluate information presented and utilize examples to model information and demonstrate the uses of valid reliable research data in assessing quality in addiction treatment.  Actual data from the addiction treatment industry will be reviewed and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments through-out the presentation.
